NSW: Man charged over stabbing during wedding reception
SYDNEY, April 12 AAP - A man has been charged over a stabbing at a wedding reception
in Sydney's southwest.
Police went to a restaurant in Cross Street, Bankstown, just after 11pm (AEST) on Saturday
after reports that a man had been assaulted.
They found a 47-year-old man suffering a number of puncture and slash wounds to his
neck, chest, back and face, believed to have been caused by a broken wine bottle.
The man's wife was also assaulted during the incident, while the couple's two-year-old
son received a laceration to his nose and other abrasions.
NSW Ambulance paramedics treated the man at the scene before taking him to Liverpool
Hospital, while the toddler was treated at Bankstown Hospital.
Late on Sunday night police arrested a 54-year-old man at a residence in Frampton Street,
Marrickville.
He was charged at Bankstown Police Station with wounding with intent to cause grievous
bodily harm and remanded in custody to appear in Bankstown Local Court on Monday.
